Kindness Is Contagious is a feel-good documentary, narrated by Catherine Ryan Hyde, best selling author of Pay It Forward. Its a film about being nice and the benefits of being nice. The film profiles cutting-edge scientists and best-selling authors from Berkeley to Harvard, along with people from all walks of life whose lives illustrate their incredible discovery: NICE GUYS FINISH FIRST! It all began with an article about James Fowler and Nicholas Christakis and their research concerning the viral nature of kindness. Fowler and Christakis demonstrated that if you are kind to one person, that person, will be kind to four other people and each of those four people, will be kind to four more people and so on and so on eventually circling back to you. Showing in fact, that Karma may actually exist in the scientific sense. CEOs, baseball players, roller girls, musicians, artists, street performers, police officers and many more tell you their heartfelt stories of kindness and generosity. With that in mind, we asked people: What is the nicest thing that anyone has done for you? Their answers range from the mundane to the profound. We hope that by watching these kind acts, audience members will be inspired to do kind acts for 4 other people, proving lots of tiny acts of kindness (which are easy to do) will have more of an impact than a few big ones. Ultimately, Kindness Is Contagious is about how a little generosity can help us live happier, healthier, wealthier, longer and more fulfilling lives.

40-year-old Jimmy is growing up, or at least he's getting older. While mooching the upper bunk of his ten-year-old nephew's bed, he enjoys the never-ending generosity of his sister, and dodges the wrath of his impatient brother-in-law Tak. He thinks that if only he could get married all his problems would be solved. But when he falls head over heels for Tak's niece things only go from bad to worse.

Originally published in French in 1922 and later translated by Paul C. Blum, this biography of Buddha is told in an unassuming and engaging style. The public domain text strings together the narrative of Buddha's life as gathered from several classic Buddhist texts, including the Buddhacharita of Asvaghosa, the Lalitavistara, and the Jataka, tales of the Buddha's former births. Here is the story of Prince Siddhartha. Although born into luxury, he seeks and finds enlightenment. He goes on to a life of teaching and developing a growing community. The biography ends with the Buddha's Parinirvana. The text of this English translation is made available through the generosity of The Internet Sacred Text Archive at sacred-texts.com. This on-going podcast of the 58 chapters of The Life of Buddha will be available until all chapters are recorded. Afterwards, the completed audiobook will be available in a commercial edition. This audiobook is a Cloud Mountain production. The complete length of the current episodes is 3 hours and 05 minutes. * * * * * PLEASE NOTE: although not free of textual errors or outdated interpretations of the Buddha's life and teaching, its relaxed, conversational style makes The Life of Buddha an inspiring introduction to the extraordinary man called the Buddha. Please read more recent, reliable works to gather accurate knowledge of the Buddha's words and actions. * * * * *

Muriel/Aggie Murch is a radio producer, writer, organic farmer and registered nurse.
Muriel began her radio work in 1989 in the Drama and Literature department at KPFA Pacifica in Berkeley, California. In 1996 she joined a small group that formed KWMR community radio in Point Reyes, California.
She continues to write short stories and poetry and, as she can, produce radio programs often focused on literature, agriculture or medicine.
In 1972, Walter and Aggie bought four acres of Peter’s Dairy which became Blackberry Farm. They raised children, horses and vegetables until the children grew up and the horses died. Now a flamboyant flock of chickens roam in the orchard of English and American heritage apples.
From Field to Fork takes one crop at a time from the farm, follows it to market, to the kitchen and then to the community table. From Field to Fork was seeded on the farm, nurtured in community radio and sporadically appears on kwmr.org and this podcast which is only made possible with the help and generosity of Pete Horner. Pete also composed and performed the theme music for Letter from A. Broad and Living with Literature and soon from Field to Fork www.mixmonkey.com

Living with Literature is a series of radio programs based on conversations with people in the worlds of art, humanities, science and scholarship whose work has had a significant impact on the way we think and live, whether in a local or global context. The focus of the conversation is on the literature that the guests have read at decisive moments in their lives. Through listening to these conversations we rediscover, with them, the writing and thoughts that have shaped their minds. The conversations are edited and intercut with readings from the literature that they have chosen to remember and present.
In addition to these conversations this podcast includes interviews with authors on their specific work. Story readings are also included. Some go with a specific interview. Others are simply stories.
This podcast is only made possible with the help and generosity of Pete Horner. Pete also composed and performed the theme music for Letter from A. Broad and Living with Literature. www.mixmonkey.com
